Our whole family has been blessed by Christian Science for over thirty-six years, and I am grateful for the privilege I had of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. We have used this Science at home, at work, and in service for our country. It has blessed and protected us from many ills, when rightly applied.

Some of the healings in our home have been of measles, whooping cough, scarlet fever, colds, influenza, cancer, enlarged thyroid glands, and a nervous breakdown. Lost articles have been returned; we were financially sustained at a time of lack; we have been guided rightly in matters of business and home, have been protected from accidents, and have gained much peace and happiness through the application of Christian Science in all our daily activities.

The healing of goiter was slow, extending over a number of years. At first, active work was not done for this condition, but when I began to attend high school, the physical education teacher would not let me do the regular gymnasium work, because she said my heart was weak. Because of that and the enlarged gland, she said I would have to take special rest periods instead of the gymnasium work, which I loved. Specific work was then taken up for this, and many erroneous traits of character had to be healed. Sensitiveness, shyness, and nervousness were overcome; a quick temper was finally eliminated, and a greater sense of love and compassion toward my fellow men was acquired.

I do not know when the healing came. However, to show how complete this healing was, I wish to tell the following. I joined a group of young people who were active in every kind of athletics. We danced, swam, played tennis, went horseback riding, and took many long hikes up mountain trails. Not only did I join in all these activities, but often I was able to go on when others became tired and had to rest. For these things I am very grateful, because only God and His goodness could have brought about this complete freedom from false laws.

The healing of the nervous breakdown was also slow. But during this experience I gained much in love and understanding and was able to dwell constantly with the truths taught in Christian Science. It was a period of much study with the Concordances to Science and Health and the other works of Mrs. Eddy. I am grateful for the love and encouragement which the practitioner gave me during this time and for the patience and consideration expressed by my family. Much good unfolded, which was beneficial to me later in working with and understanding others.

At two different times I was instantaneously healed of food poisoning. At another time a swelling appeared on my wrist, and I was not able to use that hand for lifting anything. At first I took no notice of this condition, but when it became very annoying, I applied the truths of Christian Science to the difficulty every time it came to my attention. After specific work was done, the swelling disappeared, and the healing came quickly.

It is a wonderful feeling to be able to say "No" to the various temptations and suggestions of evil which present themselves in a business or social gathering. My associates respect and admire my abstaining from liquor and tobacco. Many times I have been helped by the sentence in Science and Health (p. 454), "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way."

It was my privilege to be an associate at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association on Pacific Coast for over a year. During that time I learned much about living and practicing the truths which I had learned in Christian Science. The experience is still bringing me inspiration and blessings.

For the privilege of serving in the Sunday School, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the blessed benefits of class instruction, I am most grateful. The Reading Rooms have been a haven to me during working days, and whenever in another city I have found rest and inspiration by visiting one of them.
