I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which has helped me ever since my birth. When I was still too young to remember, I was healed of a number of difficulties such as mumps, burns, and an intestinal disorder. These were all instantaneous healings.

One night some time ago when the streets and sidewalks were covered with ice, I was out with my father and concerned with his safety on the ice, though feeling quite sure of myself. Instead of declaring the truth about man, I was thinking of impending danger. When we were within two blocks of our house, a large, smooth limb fell out of a high tree from a considerable height and struck me on the head, making a large dent. It hit me with such force that it knocked me down, causing my left shoulder to strike the pavement.

When I regained consciousness, my father was by my side declaring the truth as we learn to do through the study of Christian Science. In a short time I was able to get to my feet with the assistance of my father and a young man who was passing by. At my request my father called a practitioner for help as soon as we were home. All members of the family held to the truth.

I found that I had no control over my left arm, my shoulder and back being affected. The condition persisted for a few hours, but as my thinking began to clear, the first two lines from Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "The Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, p. 4), came to me. At once I regained full use of my arms. Although my head bothered me for a couple of days, I was able to attend school and give a final examination speech in my public speaking class the very next day. In no way was I hindered in my usual duties because of this experience.

I am grateful for the privilege that I have of attending the Christian Science Sunday School and for the revelation of God, good, which Mrs. Eddy has brought to us through Christian Science. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for the practitioners who are always ready to help and support us when difficulties arise.—William Schneider,Maywood, Illinois.
