Because I have been so amply...

Because I have been so amply protected, guided, and blessed by God through Christian Science, I wish to express my gratitude for God's care and love.

I have had Christian Science all my life, but only recently have I begun to realize the protection and guidance I have never failed to receive under any circumstance. With the realization that man as the image and likeness of the divine Principle, God, can express only good and perfection as taught by the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, have come many instantaneous healings of physical disorders.

When I was attending secondary school, I fell while executing a stunt on the horizontal rings of a city playground and broke bones in both arms. My home was notified, and work was taken up immediately by a Christian Science practitioner. I was taken to an emergency hospital, where the bones were set and the arms placed in splints. It was stated that these were exceptionally bad breaks and might not heal properly, but I knew that Christian Science never fails when properly applied. Medical science also claimed that I would not be able to use my arms or hands for six to eight weeks while they were in plaster casts and that X-ray pictures would he the only proof of proper settings. These human steps were taken a few days later, but the evening of the fall I attended a motion picture with one of my brothers and enjoyed it immensely. On the morning of the third day all pain ceased, and I found myself using my hands in opening doors and in other ways. I knew that my freedom had been gained mentally and that the fears connected with the difficulty had been overcome. In two weeks I was chinning myself on a back-yard trapeze, and in three weeks the doctor was convinced the casts could come off. In the words of our Leader (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."

Another opportunity to experience God's power and presence presented itself a few years later while I was participating in high school athletics. After spending a week in bed with influenza, I found myself in what seemed to be a very weak condition, and error tried to tell me I would not be able to take my part in the annual city meet, which was scheduled one week hence. A Christian Science practitioner again brought the truth to me with the understanding that strength belongs to God and He supplies all that His children need all the time. I upheld my part in the annual event, needless to say, and received one first place and also a fourth place in a distance race I had always felt was too much for me.

When I was with the AAF in the recent world conflict, loneliness and fear were replaced with activity of a joyous nature and experiences grander than any that I had ever known before.

The understanding of Mind, God, as taught in Christian Science, has led me to right decisions which have been manifested in the right sense of school and companionship. Obedience to the command (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God," has led me to all the happiness that has come into my experience. I am indeed grateful for all that the activities of the Christian Science movement are doing for mankind.—Robert W. Emerson, Hollywood, California.
