I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for the benefits that have come to me through the spiritualization of thought which has resulted from studying Christian Science.

Soon after I became interested in Science, I had to drive some two hundred miles and return the next day with a friend. On the way I found a rash developing on my throat, and on arrival saw that it March 4, 1950] covered my body almost completely. The condition was uncomfortable and frightening. I went to bed and read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I realized that "the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works" (John 14:10).

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 312), "A personal sense of God and of man's capabilities necessarily limits faith and hinders spiritual understanding." After a couple of hours I went to sleep. I awoke in about a quarter of an hour feeling very hot and opened the window. In doing so, I saw that the rash had disappeared from my arm. Indeed, there was little sign of it anywhere. The next day I was entirely well, and my friend saw nothing amiss.

I have seen many instances of the use of Christian Science in business. I once found myself much overworked and tired. I realized that true work is nothing but the calm reflection of Mind and that it involves no personal toil. The fatigue disappeared forthwith, and I found a few days later that the volume of work recorded as passing through my hands was just twice that of any of my colleagues. Yet whereas they were tired, I was fresh.

Countless problems of the most varying character have been solved for me by the application of divine law, and I can never be grateful enough to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us the textbook.—Sir George E. J. Mahon, Bart., Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland.
