Class instruction in Christian Science...

Class instruction in Christian Science so awakened me to the joy which comes with the demonstration of this Science that I cannot longer delay in expressing my gratitude through the periodicals. In the words of a hymn, I desire to "share Thy joy and spend it freely."

I attended the Sunday School from the age of three until I was twenty. The teaching I received there was truly an inspiration to me, and with the help of my mother, or a practitioner, I experienced many healings. About the time I was in high school, I saw that I could not grow in my understanding of Christian Science unless I demonstrated it for myself.

One evening when I had symptoms of a severe cold, I went to my room and contemplated Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 207): "There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause." I saw the truth of that statement very clearly and knew that I could manifest only perfection because God is perfect. Soon I fell asleep, and I awakened the next morning free.

I cannot be grateful enough for Mrs. Eddy's provision for Christian Science Organizations in colleges. Membership in one of these organizations at a large university and activity in it have brought much fruitage. From active participation in the organization I gained peace and fresh inspiration after listening to depressingly material viewpoints expounded in some of my classes. I made a habit of spending more time studying Christian Science than in cramming for examinations, and I was able to demonstrate to some degree the omnipresence of Mind. Many friendships were made that have continued through the years. I feel it was the strength gained through activity in this college organization that enabled me to see the unreality of the claim of death at the time of my mother's passing the year after I left college.

At the birth of our first son I received wonderful help from a practitioner. After I arrived at the hospital, the doctor insisted that unless a Caesarean operation were performed the baby would not be born alive. The practitioner who was working for me stood firm, maintaining that the baby could be born normally, and in the face of every material evidence in the ensuing hours, he declared the truths of Life. The birth was normal. The doctor came into my room the next day and said, "That baby would never be alive if it were not for Christian Science."

During the last few years we have moved several times. Each time the housing situation was met very satisfactorily. I like to think of the words from Psalms (Ps. 90:1), "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations."

I am grateful for Mrs. Eddy's great wisdom in providing the many avenues to further our spiritual progress. How fortunate we are to have such a paper as The Christian Science Monitor! I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the consecrated work of The Christian Science Board of Directors.—(Mrs.) Shirley F. Keith, Altadena, California.

I wish to corroborate my wife's statements and also to express gratitude for Christian Science. It has healed me of physical ailments, but I am most grateful for the help it is giving me in removing false traits of character. Mrs. Eddy's revelation has come to show us the unreality of all discordant conditions, and I am grateful for a growing understanding and proof of this teaching.—Fred W. Keith.
