Christian Science came to my attention many years ago at a time of great need. I had been suffering from stomach trouble for a long time, had lost all faith in doctors, and had also tried a faith cure without any help.

When a sister told me of a woman she knew who had been healed, I remembered passing a Christian Science Reading Room several times, and I went to it the next day. I was given a copy of The Christian Science Journal and told I would be led to find the right practitioner. This proved to be true, for I received immediate relief through the work of the one I chose: and what was of more importance was the fact that I started to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, the next Sunday. The sister who had brought Science to my attention gave me an old edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I started to read along with the Bible, a book I owned and had always loved and tried to read and study.

It was several years before I had a complete healing of the stomach trouble, for there was much wrong thinking to be overcome. During this period my life and thinking were being transformed.

I can never express in words my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for our family of four children.

One child had a severe case of measles, and the practitioner called a doctor to see if we should be quarantined. The doctor said that the measles were gone, but that the child had a serious case of pneumonia. This was on Monday, and that was his only visit and the only time a doctor has ever been consulted since we came into Christian Science. The practitioner, when advised of the doctor's verdict, told us not to be afraid. The child was unconscious and delirious much of the time, but on the following Sunday afternoon all at once she seemed to be herself again and gained strength rapidly.

Another child, during the time of an influenza epidemic, was in a state of coma for three days, but through the help of the same practitioner, and also our absolute faith and confidence in God, the child had a rapid recovery. There were no aftereffects in either of these experiences.

I thank our Father-Mother God for all the wonderful help received through the years and for revealing to Mrs. Eddy the truth by which we have all been blessed beyond words. I am grateful for the practitioners and for my having found a way, through our weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, to study the Bible and better understand the mission and works of Christ Jesus.—(Mrs.) Caroline Martin, Chicago, Illinois.
