I still have vivid recollections of my first visit to the home of a Christian Science practitioner. About fifteen years ago a friend of my husband's had recommended Christian Science treatment for a member of the family. I recall many of the things the practitioner said. Among them was: "'We cannot fill vessels already full' [Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 201]; we must first empty our consciousness of all erroneous thinking to make room for righteous thoughts." I was much impressed with this interview. My first healing, that of constipation, took place soon afterward.

We were then offered Christian Science literature, which was to be sent to our home; this we gratefully accepted. We also borrowed a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and very soon purchased a copy.

Our home was full of material remedies, which were never used again. There have since been many demonstrations of healing, such as the overcoming of severe coughing resulting from colds which usually lasted all winter, but which have not returned in many years. Headaches, which were very frequent, have also ceased; corns and warts have disappeared; and our son was healed of whooping cough in one treatment from a practitioner. For all these healings I am very grateful, and I know that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (ibid., p. 494).
