PRAYER FOR COMMUNION SUNDAY

I lay my heart on the altar of Love.
Here, parent Mind, all that I have.
Purge it of all false righteousness;
The stony parts dissolve;
Small hates and willful loves remove—
The getting thoughts that close all doors
And harbor only emptiness;
The doubts and many fears
Like lions in my way,
When I would answer Thy heard call.
And cleanse it of the mortal self,
Self-loving most of all.

Then when its doors are open wide,
Its chambers swept and cleaned,
Brim it with what Thou art,
O Love, the patient heart,
Great heart of good!
