No words can express what Mrs. Eddy's...

No words can express what Mrs. Eddy's writings, particularly Science and Health, have been and still are to me. For many years I have turned to her writings as friends and have always found unfailing comfort, assurance, and courage to go forward. I have known the unspeakable blessings of instantaneous removal of difficulties and wonderful guidance, but I am especially grateful for the regeneration which has taken place in my experience. Through the study of Christian Science I have learned to become a better citizen and a useful member of society.

Difficulties resulting from loneliness and a deep sense of being unwanted from early childhood have been replaced by enduring and joyous friendships and the restoration of right relationships. Unreliability and lack of courage and of faith in myself have vanished, and in their place I have found trust in Truth and faith in good. Impatience and other faults of character are gradually being exchanged for a clearer perception of Love's allness and supremacy. The truths contained in Science and Health and the promises in the Bible have proved present for me whenever I have faithfully turned to them.

A physical healing, which I did not understand at the time, but which made a tremendous impression upon me, occurred seventeen years ago when I was healed in a few days of a severely poisoned arm. A few years later I developed acute stomach trouble. For about three weeks I could take only the lightest liquids, and even these caused much distress. The condition got worse, and then an attack of influenza frightened me; so I sought the help of a practitioner. Most unexpected and happy arrangements were made for my care; in three days I could eat normally; and within the week I was up, quite free and well. This experience taught me many things, and I began to realize that our Father-Mother God not only supplies our needs, but does it abundantly, above and beyond anything we can plan or imagine.

I am happy and grateful to have had class instruction. I should like to express my gratitude for the practitioner, for her love and patient helpfulness at all times, for those who have the task of shaping and guarding the many and varied activities of The Mother Church, and above all for Mrs. Eddy's unselfishness in making it possible for us to experience so many blessings. —(Miss) Emily Olive Williams, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England.

So many proofs of the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science have been mine that I wish to express my gratitude so all who read of them will know that God is "a very present help in trouble."

At one time I was stricken with chills in the home of a friend who was not a Christian Scientist. She kindly offered me medicine, which I explained I could not take because I was a Christian Scientist. With a scornful remark, she left my room.

Soon the family went to dinner, and I managed to go to the telephone and call a practitioner, requesting that she come to the house so the family would know something was being done. When she arrived, I was still shaking with chills, and she said calmly, "Let's turn on the warmth of Love." Sitting beside me she began to read from a printed lecture on Christian Science. Immediately I began to feel warm, and this warmth of Love not only healed me, but also reached my friend, who witnessed this instantaneous healing.

At another time I manifested what is known as athlete's foot. My sister, who is a nurse, explained to me that athlete's foot is of a parasitic nature. Immediately this thought came to me: I am fed and supported by divine Love. I also realized that I had been depending on a pay check for my supply instead of on God. My healing was complete within twenty-four hours and has been permanent. This was over sixteen years ago.

Through turning wholeheartedly to God, I experienced an instantaneous healing of quinsy. Not feeling well, I retired early to read and rest, holding in thought what I could of what I read from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and our periodicals. Later my husband, who was not a Christian Scientist, came in to speak to me. I could not answer him and could scarcely breathe. Looking frightened, he asked, "If I get you something, will you take it?" Disappointed because he did not think to call a practitioner, I shook my head. Then the tempter whispered: "What will you do now? You've got to breathe." Then came the answer from Hebrews, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." Instantly the whole obstruction was removed. I looked up at my husband and in my natural voice said, "Thank God." He bowed his head and said, "Yes, thank God." Beautiful thoughts of assurance came to me, such as from the ninety-first Psalm: "He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone;" also this assurance (Hebr. 13:5): "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

The next night my husband was walking the floor with severe pains in his legs. The angel thoughts were still with me since my healing the night before; so I told him to get into bed and I would pray for him. Expectantly he did so and was immediately healed.

Since then class instruction has been a blessing. Our children had the privilege of attending the Sunday School and later they joined The Mother Church and a branch church.

I am grateful for all the workers who have helped so much to carry this light of Truth all over the world; also for our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who revealed the Christ, as taught by Jesus, to this age. My prayer is that I will "hold fast that which is good" (I Thess. 5: 21).—(Mrs.) Bessie R. Cairns, Stamford, Connecticut.
