Many opportunities were presented during the year wherein we were able to protect the rights of individual Christian Scientists from encroachment by public servants and others. For example, one of our practitioners who had a patient in a state institution reported that his patient was required to take medical treatment by the authorities. After consulting this office as to the rights of the individual in this case and learning that compulsory medication or treatment is prohibited by state law, the practitioner presented this information to the director of the institute. His patient was then accorded freedom from compulsory treatment.
