Fear at the root cast out; malignant growth vanishes
It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I write the following testimony. For a long time I have enjoyed the benefits which accrue from the study and application of Christian Science.
Several years ago I discovered a hard lump on my breast. This gave rise to a great deal of fear, which no amount of study dispelled. Additional cause for alarm stemmed from the fact that cancer is supposed to be hereditary in our family.
My husband suggested that I have a medical diagnosis to alleviate my fears, which I did. The doctor only confirmed my fears and suggested a consultation with a surgeon and a possible operation. Instead of calming me, the medical diagnosis only served to aggravate the fear, which I have since learned was the root of all the trouble.
A Christian Science practitioner was called immediately upon our return home, and a great deal of earnest work was done, with no apparent results. I worked faithfully and earnestly too, but somehow could not see the light. Finally some of the fear seemed to abate, and the practitioner was discharged, although the physical evidence remained unchanged.
I continued to read and study the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy. I felt that I was learning a great deal more about God and my true self. Now I am grateful for this intense study because I know I grew in grace during that period. However, at the time, I allowed discouragement to enter because the physical evidence of the growth remained.
The morning of my annual Christian Science association meeting, I decided that immediately after it I would call upon my teacher for help. During the meeting it was brought out that error is no more real than the apparitions which a sorcerer conjures up, and I was able to see that for the first time. I felt as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders immediately, because all along I had been endeavoring to dissolve something, and there was nothing to dissolve. When I reached home, every material, false evidence had disappeared. That was about four years ago, and the healing has been complete and permanent.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for Christian Science, for class instruction, for the earnest work of the practitioner, and for every avenue that is open to us as students of Christian Science.— (Mrs.) J. Olive Rowe, Cleveland, Ohio.
I wish to corroborate my wife's testimony and to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to our family through the study of Christian Science.
I also wish to offer an expression of gratitude for having been healed of the smoking habit, which I had had for many years, and for having been able to overcome a very bad temper through this Science.
The truth as taught in Christian Science has met our every need during the past ten years, and I am indeed very grateful.
