Study of Science heals indigestion and other ills

It is now some sixteen years since I became interested in Christian Science. When I remember how much I suffered from indigestion, constipation, and fear of foods and realize that these conditions were eliminated soon after I started to study Science, I can but feel greatly indebted to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. She has given us the means to overcome trials through her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other works. I might add that loss of weight was also soon overcome. The Bible has become to me a book of healing. As Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 406), "The Bible contains the recipe for all healing."

I can also testify that I have a far better sense of health at present than before I started studying Science. Hearing in one of my ears was restored in nine months, after wax which had caused an obstruction came away. A blood condition causing boils to break out on my hands and neck was also healed. Employment has been gained, and I could tell of examples of God's protection from accident and of lost articles found through an understanding of Christian Science.

In answer to the question, "Is healing the sick the whole of Science?" Mrs. Eddy states in her book "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 2): "Healing physical sickness is the smallest part of Christian Science. It is only the bugle-call to thought and action, in the higher range of infinite goodness." I have found that the day-by-day unfoldment of God's divine goodness is the sum and substance of eternal happiness. I have always found immediate help in turning to Mrs. Eddy's works. The Concordances to her writings, too, have been of great assistance. The Bible has been made practical and understandable; whatever had previously confused me has been explained through Science and Health.

I could not close this testimony without a word of gratitude for the teachings of the Master, Christ Jesus, and his wonderful demonstrations over sickness, sin, and death. Gratitude is also due the disciples of Jesus and the prophets of old, as well as the early Christian Science workers and our present workers. Activity in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, membership in The Mother Church, and class instruction have been indispensable in learning what God is and what my relationship is to Him. For all this and much more, I give thanks.—Charles Wollman, New York, New York.
