Children's diseases cured; right employment found

Since my early childhood the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, all of Mrs. Eddy's other writings, and the periodicals have been m our home, ready with their messages of comfort and healing for every occasion. There have been many times when the healing power of the Christ, Truth, has been evident in the overcoming of sickness, lack, and discords of various kinds.

On one occasion my sister and I were sent home from school with instructions from the nurse to have our tonsils and adenoids attended to immediately because they were in a most serious condition. A practitioner was called, and metaphysical work was done for us for two weeks. My sister and I continued in school as usual. Later, when another examination was made by the school nurse, she checked her records and then remarked that she could find no trace of any diseased condition and assumed that we had had our tonsils removed.

Children's diseases were also overcome, including scarlet fever when great fear was expressed by relatives as to the wisdom of our not having medical aid. As usual, complete healing followed consecrated Christian Science treatment. I am grateful for greater freedom from colds, which at one time seemed to be a source of much inconvenience and discomfort to me.

Christian Science has been of inestimable help to me in finding right employment. Always when I was relying completely on divine Mind for guidance, the way would open for a step ahead in the same office or in another organization. Because the truth that divine Principle operates ceaselessly for the good of all was maintained in thought, there was never any inconvenience or inharmony in leaving one position for another.

A valuable lesson was learned the last time such an experience occurred. I was desirous of making a trip to the East Coast and was knowing that if it was right for me to make this trip, divine Mind would point the way. Suddenly complete reorganization of the office in which I was employed occurred, and it seemed a most convenient time to make a change. Feeling that Love was guiding, I resigned my position and prepared to leave on the desired vacation. Then all kinds of mortal mind suggestions came to me: Should I make such a long trip? Where would I find another position as satisfactory as the one I had left? Not being alert to replace these suggestions immediately with trust and confidence in God to guide me, I became very much confused. Once again the loving and understanding help of a practitioner set me on the right path, and with peace of mind and a willingness to leave my affairs in God's hands, I departed for the Mast and a most enjoyable vacation.

While I was returning on the train, whenever thought of employment came to me, the words of this verse stood out (Ex. 23:20): "Behold. I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." Upon my arrival home, work was resumed by the same practitioner, and within a week I found myself in a position most satisfactory in every way, and more important still, with an opportunity for the first time in my experience to work with earnest students of Christian Science. Close association with one Scientist in this office led me to the priceless experience of class instruction.

I am grateful for having had the opportunity to attend a Christian Science Sunday School until the age of twenty and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. Active participation in branch church work is proving a real blessing and a source of great inspiration and satisfaction. I should also like to express my gratitude for the Reading Rooms, where many hours have been spent in contemplation of spiritual realities, and for the lectures, always a source of encouragement and inspiration.
