Because I have derived so much...

Because I have derived so much help from the testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel. I have a great desire to help others.

Although I always had everything one could wish for and a family and home where much love was expressed, yet I was depressed and constantly reaching out for something that would answer all my questions. Christian Science was presented to me in 1926 by a friend, and it did answer all my questions.

Shortly before finding this truth I had been suffering from an internal disorder and a fallen arch. After reading for about a month from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I realized that both troubles had disappeared. I was overjoyed with these healings and was sure this truth could heal any discordant condition.

About two years from this time a baby girl was born. Because my husband and my parents were very fearful and knew nothing about Christian Science, they convinced me that I should go to a hospital to have this baby. While I was there the doctor informed us that the baby's feet were not normal and the toes were crooked. He told us that she would not be able to walk at the proper age. I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me with this condition, and very soon the family forgot about it and my fear was destroyed. The child walked normally when a year old. Since there was so much opposition to Christian Science during my stay in the hospital and I knew my right place was at home, I decided to have the next baby in our home. Some work was done by the same practitioner, and as a result my husband lovingly consented to my staying at home. I engaged a practitioner and a Christian Science nurse. Everything was so much more harmonious after this second baby arrived that everyone who saw me noticed it and rejoiced with us.

Our third child was born under the same circumstances, and this birth too was very harmonious. I was most grateful in this last experience for the Christian Science practitioner, who worked so steadfastly, and for the nurse, who was so receptive to divine Truth and Love.

Our oldest child fell down the basement stairs when she was fifteen months old. The next day a large, soft lump appeared on her head. I was filled with fear and called a practitioner to help us. When my husband came home in the evening he called in a doctor. The doctor told us that he could do nothing for it, but that the lump would go down in about six weeks. However, through my reliance on God to heal her, my fear was destroyed and the condition disappeared in five days. The children have been healed, of colds, of the results of falls, and also of so-called infectious diseases. It has been a blessed privilege to have the children in the Christian Science Sunday School.

In "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy has written (p. 131), "The darkness in one's self must first be cast out, in order rightly to discern darkness or to reflect light." This has been a great help to me. I am filled with gratitude for the glorious work the practitioners are doing and for all they have given me. My appreciation of and gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us this marvelous Science, are very great. I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch, church, also for class instruction and the yearly association meetings.—(Mrs.) Marjorie Smith Willcox, Granville, Ohio.
