Lectures in Europe

Churches and societies in Great Britain and Ireland and on the Continent are reminded that applications for lectures should be made by their clerks in June as soon as possible after the names of the lecturers assigned to these countries are announced, following the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, and not later than July 10.

It would be helpful if these churches and societies, in appointing their Lecture Committees, would keep in thought the fact that the members of these Committees should he able to communicate with each other at this time and throughout the summer.

The lecture schedules cannot be arranged satisfactorily until all calls are in hand. Early applications will greatly assist in the speedy and harmonious settlement of individual dates, This is not meant to exclude the making of an occasional extra call should the need arise in some locality.

Church Membership and Individual Progress

The following statement came to us from one of our new members: "Experience have proved overwhelming to me the vital part that membership in The Mother Church plays in an individual's progress from sense to Soul!"

This member evidently realized that affiliation with The Mother Church is one of the footsteps referred to on page 253 (lines 32-2) of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "The divine demand. 'Be ye therefore perfect.' is scientific, and the human footsteps leading to perfection are indispensable."

Twice each year applicants are admitted to membership by The Christian Science Board of Director (see Manual. Art. XIII, Sect. 2). Applications to he considered for the next admission must reach the Clerk not later than April 26, 1948. The admission date is June 4, 1948. If those who wish to take this step will forward their applications as early as possible, rather than wait until near the closing date, it will greatly facilitate the work in the Clerk's office. Approvers are responsible for the accuracy of the applications and for securing the necessary countersingnatures. An Instruction Folder which explains simply and thoroughly all that is required in applying for membership accompanies each application. Please give special attention to the paragraph on page 2 of this Folder entitled "From 2."

Application blanks for membership in The Mother Church may be obtained from practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal, from clerks of branch churches and societies, or at Christian Science Reading Rooms. Applications may also be obtained from Gordon V, Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
