Twenty-one years ago my mother...

Twenty-one years ago my mother and I knew that we had to turn unreservedly to Christian Science for her healing. A friend who had many years' experience in the County Hospital recommended this Science with the thought that it would help me when my mother passed on. I said to him, "Perhaps she could be healed," but he held out no hope, as he had seen, he said, over two hundred similar cases in the hospital and none had ever been healed. The difficulty was a malignant growth on the face too large for surgery. A loving practitioner and a Christian Science nurse stood by us day and night until the healing was accomplished. My mother was with me for seventeen years thereafter.

During this healing time I found that I too had been freed from a severe back condition which had been a constant source of discomfort to me. I did not have a specific treatment, but as my understanding grew I realized that the pure atmosphere of Mind which pervaded our home at that time dissolved all inharmony, and I suddenly found myself free.

Christian Science has meant and does mean everything to me. It has enabled me successfully to change my occupation. It has given me health, friends, and "a new heaven and a new earth."

The path has not always been smooth. In fact, many times it has been very rugged, but I have always been encouraged to persevere by remembering the passage in the sixth chapter of John where many of the disciples complained that Jesus' teaching was too hard, and it is recorded that many of them walked with him no more. Then Jesus asked the twelve (verse 67), "Will ye also go away?" and Peter said (verse 68), "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." We know that our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has made clear for us those "words of eternal life," and has charted the way. We have only to follow her unerring direction.

I am grateful for all the activities of church membership, which have blessed me beyond words.—(Miss) Ann Little, Hollywood, California.
