At this time when there is such...
At this time when there is such a demand for homes and living quarters, with seemingly none available, it is good to be still and listen to what God, divine Love, has to tell us.
A few years ago, while I was living in a distant city, the clamoring of mortal mind presented itself to me in several phases: a sense of inadequacy, frustration, and inability in myself; false desire in another, and illness in still another member of my family. Shortly afterwards I found myself and a small child with no home. Then I was willing to listen to the "still small voice" of Truth that guides unerringly. After each of us was willing to face what needed to be healed, and turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science for help, the difficulties were overcome. With help from practitioners, our family was reunited, and we were led to leave that city for another many miles away.
As each step was taken according to Mind's unfolding, it was joyous, harmonious, and peaceful. Studying the attributes of Soul as given in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I learned that divine Love had provided us with a home eternal, well furnished, and sustained by God, Mind. I realized the meaning in a degree of the Bible statement (John 14:2), "I go to prepare a place for you." This place, our real home, is in Mind, and we in reality have never been out of it.
In the city to which we came a house was lovingly offered us until we found a permanent location. it developed that we purchased this house, and it has proved to be a lovely home ever since.
We read on page 16 of Science and Health: "Our Master taught his disciples one brief prayer, which we name after him the Lord's Prayer. Our Master said, 'After this manner therefore pray ye,' and then he gave that prayer which covers all human needs." I am grateful that through the study and application of Christian Science I am learning to include all mankind when I pray, "Our Father," and to realize that there is neither race, color, nor creed, but just man in God's image and likeness, pure, perfect, free, and always at home in Soul, God. This prayer indeed "covers all human needs."
I was healed of blood poisoning several years ago, after the medical verdict was given that the thumb and possibly the hand would have to be removed to save my life. Even then the doctors gave me no assurance of survival, saying the condition had gone too far. After much suffering I turned to Christian Science, and I know now that I was healed in the first treatment. There was some sensitiveness for a few days, but in less than a week the bandages were removed, and now there is no evidence to tell which thumb it was.
I am so grateful to be of service in our Sunday School and in other activities in the Cause of Christian Science. I am humbly and increasingly grateful for our loved Leader's unwavering loyalty to the Christ-idea, and for the purity and love for humanity that enabled her to impart this precious truth to a sin-laden and sick world.
In the words of Mrs. Eddy's hymn (Poems, p. 13):
"My prayer, some daily good to do
To Thine, for Thee;
An offering pure of Love, whereto
God leadeth me."
