"The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies" (Ps. 18:2, 3).

It is with a grateful heart that I speak of the many healings that my children and I have received through Christian Science. Recently I have overcome a sickness which seemed very alarming. Early the morning that it appeared I did my studying of the Lesson-Sermon with prayerful emphasis on the nothingness of matter and the wholeness and perfection of Spirit, then went on with my day's work about the house.

By evening I felt no better, but I held fast to the fact that "there is no power apart from God" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 228), and that since God is ever present and all-powerful, there cannot possibly be any evil. I retired early and took my copy of the textbook with me. Opening it at random, I saw these words on page 259: "In divine Science, man is the true image of God." I knew that no fever, pain, inflammation, nor lameness can be in God nor in His true image. I held to that truth, and continued my reading. The fever soon left. By the time I was ready to sleep, I felt much better in every way. and the evening of the next day the healing was complete.

I feel so indebted to our Leader for her wonderful gift to mankind, her spiritual discovery of the truths that Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated. The textbook is illumined with truth and love, and gives more and more to the reader as he continues his study. The truths of the Bible also grow in clarity and depth through study. I have found the Christian Science periodicals a source of continual inspiration; often an article brings the answer to a problem. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for what work I have been able to do in committees.

One evening our thirteen-year-old son came home from riding on his bicycle, and said, "Mother, I feel terrible all over. Will you do something for me?" I saw that he was feverish, and I knew that my fear would have to be overcome first. I declared the truth, assuring him that since God filled all space there could be no room for error, pains, or anything that was unlike God, good. His father was disturbed over his condition, so I called a practitioner who had recently given me help. She said that the first thing to do was to get rid of all fear, and she began work that night.

By morning the boy had no fever; he had slept well and felt much better. He did his part to understand the truth and trust in God, studying the Lesson and certain passages that I recommended to him. Although he missed three days of school, he was back on the fourth day, feeling all right again. His father was as grateful for this fine demonstration of the healing power of Truth as the boy and I were. It is almost impossible to express our gratitude for the practitioner's work.

We have had many other healings that have shown forth the strength of the Word. May our understanding grow as we keep on with our work and prayer. The "little foxed" of errors can be kept out, I have found, by praying without ceasing, as Paul told the Thessalonians to do (I Thess. 5:17).—(Mrs.) Agnes Pierson Bediant, Painesville, Ohio.
