I am eternally grateful for...
I am eternally grateful for Christian Science. Through the study and demonstration of its teachings I have seen proved many times that "God is ... a very present help in trouble," as the Bible tells us (Ps. 46:1).
During my childhood the truths I learned in the Christian Science Sunday School were a constant protection to me. I experienced very little sickness, and at different times was quickly healed of measles, mumps, and whooping cough. A large, unsightly wart on one of my knees gradually disappeared as I applied the simple truths learned, whenever I thought of the condition.
While I was in high school I had a painful corn on the ball of my foot for some time. I tried to apply the truth to the problem, as I had learned to do, but the condition continued. When it was necessary for me to submit to a yearly school health examination, the school doctor informed me that the corn would eventually have to be cut out, as it was so deeply rooted. I asked help of a Christian Science practitioner for a few days prior to my going away for the summer. She gave me some very good thoughts, and the corn was less painful, but still remained. One day in the middle of the summer I found it necessary to call on another practitioner for some help on a different matter. With one treatment I was well again, and later the same day when I was putting on my socks. I found to my great joy that the corn had entirely disappeared. I could not even remember on which foot it had been.
When I was seeking employment during the days when jobs were hard to secure, divine Love guided me not only in finding employment but in making several changes, each for the better. Whenever a problem of place or change needed to be worked out, the following two passages helped me keep my thought clear and erase any possible doubt of God's loving care. In the Bible (Eccl. 3:15) we are told, "That which is to be hath already been:" and Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 304), "This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object." I have also found this statement from Science and Health (pp. 380. 381) very helpful when mortal laws concerning health have been presented to me: "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God."
I am very grateful for the experience of a quick and harmonious birth of twins. My husband and I have since seen many proofs of the ever-presence of the power of God. At one time one of our little girls was instantaneously healed when a kettle of boiling water was spilled on her, by our declaring aloud "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468). Whenever the children have manifested any sign of sickness, healing has come quickly either through our knowing the truth ourselves or with the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner.
I experienced great proof of God's care when, two years ago, I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I am especially grateful for the loving, firm way in which a Christian Science practitioner guided me back into the channels of right thinking. Through her work I was permanently healed.
Words cannot express my deep gratitude for Christian Science, and for its healing power, which is available to all the world. I am so grateful for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our Leader. It is comforting to have the Reading Rooms, where we can go for inspiration, and The Mother Church and its branch churches, where we know we are always welcome. I am grateful for the Sunday School, where I learned to apply to everyday problems the truth by which Christ Jesus healed, and for church membership. The periodicals, too, are a constant inspiration and help.—(Mrs.) Beverly Bond Frost, Jacksonville, Florida.
I wish to verify the foregoing testimony and to express my own gratitude for Christian Science. My first contact with Science was during the summer my wife had the healing of the corn on her foot, shortly after I had first met her.
About four years ago I was healed of a troublesome skin condition on my face that had persisted for about six years. The healing came after only one treatment by a practitioner. For this healing and many others I am indeed grateful to Christian Science.—Frederic V. Frost
