Christian Science was presented to me a number of years ago at a time when I was under examination by several eminent doctors, who were trying to discover the cause of a stomach condition from which I was suffering. They held lengthy consultations, took repeated X rays, and tried different diets on me without arriving at the cause of the trouble. Finally they told me there was nothing further they could do for me except to recommend that I live on a very simple and restricted diet, which they outlined.

Shortly after this verdict was rendered, my husband and I went to visit a cousin of his who had recently married a Christian Scientist. She had prepared a wonderful dinner for us, but I told her I could eat only a piece of dry toast and one soft-boiled egg. She was very patient with me, and started to tell me something about Christian Science and what wonderful healings she had had, in particular a complete healing of blindness. By dinner time I agreed that if she would help me with her understanding of God, I would take a chance and eat the delicious dinner she had so lovingly prepared. I did so—from fried chicken to apple pie with cheese— and for the first time in many, many months I felt no ill effects from food.

When we left, she lent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I immediately started to read. I read every available moment when at work and far into the night, and through this reading I was completely healed of the stomach trouble within a very few weeks. I could eat whatever I desired, and have continued to do so ever since that time.

At the time the doctors were examining me I also complained to them about a small eruption which I had noticed on my hands, and which was very irritating and painful. They said that the condition was incurable, that I was fortunate it was not on my face, and that while it might go away, it would always return each year. I went to a practitioner for help, but although the condition would seem to clear up, it would return. This went on for nearly two years. Finally the practitioner asked me one day if there was anyone or anything which was causing me particular irritation. I said yes, there was one man in the office where I was working whose dictation always annoyed me very much. She helped me to destroy this sense of irritation and to express more love in my thinking, and the inflamed, ugly condition of the hands vanished almost before my eyes. Several times later this difficulty put in an appearance, but knowing the cause was a sense of irritation, I worked to overcome it with more love. In each case the trouble disappeared, until finally it vanished entirely.

I am most grateful to God, to Christian Science, to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all the wonderful blessings I have received through my study and application of Christian Science, and to the practitioner who helped me so wonderfully for many years to overcome whatever difficulty presented itself. I have relied on Christian Science entirely ever since these first healings, and it has always met my every need, physical, mental, financial, and moral. I am truly grateful.—(Mrs.) Lillian T.
