"O give thanks unto the Lord,...

"O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:1, 2).

The testimonies given in the Christian Science periodicals have always been a help and an inspiration to me. I am indeed grateful to relate a few of the many healings that have come to me through the open door of Christian Science. When a very young student, through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of stomach trouble. Another quick healing was that of resentment towards our Leader. I was very ill and called upon a practitioner through whose work the error was uncovered and destroyed, and the following day I was entirely free. It was then that I awakened with a great sense of love for our dear Leader.

A slower healing was that of gallstones. In Science and Health we read (p. 242), "In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error,—self-will, self-justification, and self-love,—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death." Love transformed my thinking and the condition faded from consciousness, leaving me entirely free. Through the understanding that man is perfect now, I was healed of a tumor when two physicians said an operation was immediately necessary.

My husband and I were saved when a furnace exploded. Our clothing was nearly all burned off. A Christian Science practitioner worked for us, and harmony was restored in a very short time.

For the healing of lack, resentment, anger, and sin, and for protection from danger, I am truly grateful. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for the blessed privilege of class instruction, for the inspiration of yearly association meetings, and for a degree of understanding of the truth expressed on page 91 of our textbook, "Let us rid ourselves of the belief that man is separated from God, and obey only the divine Principle, Life and Love. Here is the great point of departure for all true spiritual growth." —(Mrs.) Affie O'Melveny, San Francisco, California.
