[Original testimony in French]

I have been a Christian Scientist...

I have been a Christian Scientist for just a few years, but I have already experienced so many blessings that it is a great joy for me to give the testimony my gratitude impels.

In 1939 I was mobilized, and during that period and the ensuing exodus I constantly experienced immeasurable protection.

I lived for seven months in Paris in contact with the occupying forces, but was unable to obtain from them a visa that would enable me to leave France. I was told it must be sought in the unoccupied zone. Thus it was necessary to cross the line to regain my liberty. Boundary running was very dangerous, for the region was scoured by German patrols.

I entrusted myself to a guide, for I did not know the way or the best time to make the attempt. Before starting I realized my freedom, asserting with Paul, "I was free born." I clung, too, to Mary Baker Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 228), "The enslavement of man is not legitimate."

When the hour came I followed my guide calmly across the area said to be dangerous, and he left me in the unoccupied zone at a farm. Before leaving me, my guide said he had been astonished to see that I had no fear, and he added, "I have helped hundreds of people over the line, but you are the first I have brought across with such ease and in so little time." Divine Love had led me.

I here express my sincere gratitude to God and deep appreciation for Christian Science.—Marcel M. Houzé, New York, New York.
