A few years ago we discovered that a small leak had developed in the attic of our house. The house, which was at the foot of a hill, had three gables, and the one in which the leak appeared was facing the hill. My long ladder would not reach the top of the gable. However, by placing it higher on the hill I found I could use it as a bridge. I climbed out on the ladder with a bucket of roofing paint and a brush, and located a small break in the roof. Suddenly the ladder gave way without warning. I fell in a horizontal position, with the ladder on top of me. There was nothing that I could do to right myself or to help break the fall. When I struck the ground, things were blank for a matter of seconds, and during this interval the ladder was removed.

When I was again aware of what was going on around me. I asked not to be moved for a few minutes. There was no telephone near, and no Christian Science practitioner whom I knew nearer than sixty miles. I realized that I must hold to Truth, for I knew that God's laws were superior to all man-made laws, and that suffering would occur only if mortal mind accepted and outlined it. Almost instantly my thought was clear; I moved, and my wife and a friend lifted me to my feet and helped me to bed. I refused to undress, declaring I should be all right. Realizing that my wife was very fearful, I at once got out of bed, assuring her that I was none the worse.

After a short time my wife thought of an engagement we had to which she had been looking forward. We had promised to stay the night with some friends who lived two and a half miles away. At that time we did not have a car. My wife said that we could not possibly go, that she would not think of having me walk that distance after such a fall. I insisted that she get ready, and we started out to our friends' home. I was extremely happy, for I learned many lessons by that experience, from which there were never any aftereffects.

I am indeed grateful to God for the glorious light that our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has brought to the world. The illumination thus thrown on the Scriptures has enabled me to make many wonderful demonstrations of the power of Truth.—Jay N. Judd, El Paso, Texas.
