I have received so much help...

I have received so much help from reading the testimonies in our periodicals, I feel I should publicly express my gratitude to God. At one time, through reading a testimony in the Sentinel, I was able to make a demonstration over a difficulty that I had tried for several years to overcome.

My introduction to Christian Science came when as a child I was placed in the Sunday school. Through the help I received there, I was able to make demonstrations for myself. When, at an early age, I entered the business world without any special training, I found God leading me step by step to take up work which enabled me to hold responsible positions for many years.

As I was studying the Lesson-Sermon one morning, my thought was arrested by the statement on page 391 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "Banish the belief that you can possibly entertain a single intruding pain which cannot be ruled out by the might of Mind, and in this way you can prevent the development of pain in the body." Such a clear realization of the truth of that statement unfolded in my consciousness that when I was thrown from a horse that evening I experienced absolutely no pain. And while some said, after seeing a cut just above my eye that I would probably always have a scar, today no one can tell where the cut was.

At another time I fell upon the ice, injuring my spine. For several days I was in constant pain whenever I moved. But one evening I read in Science and Health (p. 421): "Insist vehemently on the great fact which covers the whole ground, that God, Spirit, is all, and that there is none beside Him. There is no disease." I saw that because God is All and there is none beside Him, I was incapable of manifesting a sense of disease. As I thought along these lines, I felt satisfied with my reasoning and so retired. Just before dropping off to sleep I felt my body jerk. I sat up wondering what it was and then I realized that whatever had been out of adjustment had slipped back into place.

Christian Science has not only healed me physically, but it has also helped me to overcome to some extent false traits of character. It has supplied my every need and has given me a harmonious home. All these blessings have come about through the study of the revelation that unfolded to Mrs. Eddy, and I am learning to be more grateful for her and for what she has done for the world.

Membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church has helped me to progress, and I know has been the means of keeping me close to God and to Christian Science. Class instruction has made clearer the truths contained in the Bible and in Science and Health. Much help has been mine through the loving work of practitioners. For all these blessings and for the loyal work done by The Christian Science Board of Directors I am sincerely grateful to God. —(Mrs.) Maude Powell Hale, San Diego, California.
