Lecture in The Mother Church

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, announces a free public lecture on Christian Science by Adair Hickman, C.S.B., a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, in the Church Edifice, Norway, Falmouth, and St. Paul Streets, on Monday evening, April 24, 1944, at 7.45 o'clock. The public is cordially invited.

Applications for Lectures in July and August

Churches and societies in the United States and Canada wishing to give lectures during the first two months of the next lecture year, namely July and August, 1944, are requested to inform the Board of Lectureship before May 25. Applicants will be advised about June 14 of the lecturers who will be available during July and August. Please address The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.

For Better Support of the Armed Forces

At hundreds of training stations in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, the Middle East, and Australia, the Christian Science Wartime Minister or Christian Science Officiating Minister has become a familiar figure as friend, counselor, and practitioner to men and women in the service. Although a civilian, he is permitted to function within the camp area because he can give evidence that his services are desired and needed by those in the forces whose religion is Christian Science. The Minister's scope and effectiveness depend much on the co-operation of the Field, for it is from the Field that the names and addresses of servicemen and servicewomen who would welcome his assistance are received.

The names and addresses of American and Canadian servicemen and servicewomen who are adherents of Christian Science may be submitted by relatives or friends to the Camp Welfare representative or clerk of any branch church or society, or may be sent directly to:
Manager, Camp Welfare Activities
107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts

When a transfer occurs, the serviceman's new address should be sent in promptly by his family or friends.

Information concerning those in any branch of the British service should be sent to:
Lt. Col. Robert E. Key
District Manager of Committees on Publication
Donington House, Norfolk Street, Strand
London, W.C.2, England

Names and addresses of men and women in the Australian and New Zealand forces may be given to the clerk of any branch church or society in those countries.

A serviceman can usually learn whether there is a Christian Science Wartime Minister or Officiating Minister in his area by inquiring of the commanding officer at his post, of his regimental or post chaplain, a Red Cross worker, or the nearest Christian Science Reading Room; or, of course, by writing to the address given above which is nearest to where he is stationed. Those desiring information concerning or help from a Minister should not hesitate to ask for it.

Membership Notice

Applications for membership in The Mother Church are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors, twice each year, as provided for by the Manual of The Mother Church, Article XIII, Section 2.

The next date for the admission of applicants in The Mother Church is June 2, 1944. Applications must reach the Clerk on or before Monday, May 1, 1944.

A letter of acknowledgment is sent to each applicant whose application is received by the Clerk, but this letter does not signify that he has been admitted to membership. When his application has been duly acted upon by the Board of Directors, he is notified promptly by the Clerk of the action taken.

If an application has been forwarded and, within a reasonable length of time, the applicant has not received acknowledgment, he is invited to make inquiry of the Clerk before forwarding a second application. This procedure avoids possible duplication of applications. However, applications received during the month immediately preceding the date of the current admission to membership will not be acknowledged until after that admission.

Application blanks for membership in The Mother Church are obtainable at Christian Science Reading Rooms and from clerks of branch churches and societies. Applications may always be obtained from Miss Mary G. Ewing, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15. Massachusetts.
