Christian Science Committee on Publication for Nottinghamshire, England, Reports

An invitation to address the Men's Fellowship connected with the Methodist Church at Aspley, Nottingham, was received and with the consent of the District Manager, acting on behalf of the Board of Directors of The Mother Church, an approved paper on Christian Science was read.

Nearly ninety pounds has been spent with our city and county papers in advertising church services and lectures during the year. This financial support of the local press is of great value when we approach newspaper offices with publicity material, for it is a metaphysical fact that all receiving necessitates giving, and all giving necessitates receiving.

Although references to Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy have appeared in the press on several occasions, yet only one statement necessitated a reply.

A great deal of time and thought is given to the preparation of Lesson-Sermon excerpts for the public press. The Committee on Publication often aided by an Assistant Committee, makes suitable selections from any one section in each of the thirteen Lesson-Sermons in the Quarterly, keeping in mind that they are intended for a reading public unfamiliar, in the main, with our teachings. They are made as simple, as interesting, and as short as possible. These, with the subject and Golden Text, are typed and reread to ensure accuracy, then sent to the Assistant Committees concerned, who supply them weekly to the editors.
