I am happy to confirm the statement...

I am happy to confirm the statement of my husband. The incident related is but one of several outstanding demonstrations which have taken place during the past three years.

Over thirty years ago my mother, who was under the care of two physicians, was healed in Christian Science of consumption. Since that time Science has blessed, healed, and protected us. It means everything to our present family of five—for it is our joy, our comfort, and our never-failing spiritual guide and mentor.

Some time ago an abscess appeared on my body. I endeavored to work for myself but apparently without success, for the condition grew worse day after day, until finally, after six days of intermittent fever, constant suffering, and sleeplessness, I was in despair. At this point a member of my family, who had lovingly stood by me during this trial, began to read aloud from Mrs. Eddy's work "Unity of Good." The statement on page 13, "To Him [God] there is no moral inharmony," arrested my thought and immediately brought light and inspiration. I perceived that I had been trying to heal a sick body instead of rejoicing in the perfection of my being. It became clear to me that there was nothing to heal at that moment, nor had there been at any time, for man's true being is as incapable of inharmony as God. At this satisfying point I dropped off to sleep, and upon awakening about one hour later I found that two perfect incisions had been made, and the abscess continued to drain until all impurities were eliminated and the wound closed.

One day I left a large handbag containing money and valuables (which represented all that I possessed at the time) on the step of the rumble seat of a roadster; then drove three and a half miles over a bumpy road to the near-by village. When I realized what had occurred, I returned to look for the bag. God sent His angel, and all the way back I rejoiced in the safety and protection of man's spiritual treasures, which are never in matter and cannot be seen or possessed in matter. Halfway back I saw the bag in the middle of the road. Two cars passed over it; others must have done so also, judging from its condition. Although the contents had been forced out and lay in the dust around the bag, not one object was lost, crushed, or damaged.

Space does not permit me to relate the multitude of healings of every description which we have experienced over the years in Christian Science. This lengthy list includes the healing of pneumonia, broken bones, a mastoid condition, impacted wisdom teeth, a skin disease, a disabled knee, ptomaine poisoning, and the effects of accident. While our gratitude for these wonderful evidences of Christ-healing is great, more precious yet have been the many proofs we have had of moral redemption and progress.

For comfort, courage, and assurance during many years' residence in foreign lands, for release from the temptation of falsehood, for the overcoming of self-love and criticism, for the peace and dominion that come with seeking '"first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness," we can praise God without end.

Today I am more grateful than I can say for Mrs. Eddy's unparalleled example of true leadership, and her remarkable life of ever-ascending spiritual achievement. It is my heart's deep purpose to be a true follower of this Christ-leadership and to bring forth the fruits meet for righteousness.—(Mrs.) Frances Whelan, Bronxville, New York.
