The following testimony is given to help someone who may be struggling through an experience similar to one I had a few years ago.

When my son was sixteen years old he was sent home from school by the school nurse, who said he had the seven years' itch. I asked a Christian Science practitioner to start work for him. The next day a doctor from the board of health came out to examine him and told him to go to the board of health and board of education. He was examined and was told the same thing the nurse had told him. They said this condition would go on for years if I did not use a sulphur ointment. Every day or so a member of the health department or board of education telephoned or came out to try to persuade me to use some material remedy. I had faith to know that God would heal the boy. I was learning that "trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health, by Mrs. Eddy, p. 66). Many valuable lessons of patience were learned at that time. My husband and I had the same trouble, but none of us had much discomfort. It took nearly three months for the condition to be healed, but I have since heard that it sometimes takes years under medical treatment before there is a complete healing.

I want to tell of a healing I had a short time after this experience. My head was badly swollen and my face and scalp became very dry. I had work done by a faithful practitioner and worked on the definition of "oil" as given in the Christian Science textbook (p. 592): "Oil. Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." After the healing my face became soft and smooth. That was five years ago. I was told by my barber that my hair would fall out, but instead it has grown thicker and is much easier to manage.

My daughter-in-law had an instantaneous healing of appendicitis. She did not know much about Christian Science but felt that she would be healed if I would just read to her. I read for about ten minutes and then went into the kitchen to wash my dishes. Before I had finished she came out and started to dry them. She had had an attack like this before and the doctor had told her to prepare for an operation if it happened again. For many years she and her husband have relied wholly on Christian Science for themselves and their little son.

I have reared three sons in Christian Science. They have all attended Sunday school, and the oldest son is sending his son to Sunday school.

Jesus tells us in Matthew, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." I am trying to keep my light shining so as to show others the way into the kingdom of heaven. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in Science and Health (p. 587) gives the definition of "heaven" as "harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul."

For the harmony and peace in my home I am deeply grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy for pointing the way. I am a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church; I am happy to be of service whenever called upon in church activity; and grateful for class instruction. —(Mrs.) Frances M. Emery,
San Francisco, California.

I should like to verify this testimony, because I am the daughter-in-law spoken of. I am very grateful for this healing, which has been permanent.—(Mrs.) Evelyn M. Emery.
