Mary Baker Eddy writes in...

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 58), "Home is the dearest spot on earth, and it should be the centre, though not the boundary, of the affections."

When I was a new student of Christian Science and earnestly desired to work out all my problems according to its teachings, I went to a practitioner and told him all I believed was hindering me from working out my problems. My husband was not a student of Christian Science, and I feared that his thought and other beliefs might hinder my progress.

The practitioner answered, quoting from the Bible, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, ... for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." A heavy burden or weight fell from my shoulders. I saw for the first time that we were not separated but were one in the Father, and that error was not man any more than the tares were part of the wheat. However, like the man in the Bible, I still wished to justify myself, and I told the practitioner that my husband was slow, for I believe this to be the foundation of our financial difficulties. He lovingly answered, "He is not slow, but you are slow to recognize the image and likeness of God."

I went home and began to try to know man as God knows him; to replace all false accusations with the truth about God and man. I also endeavored to please my husband. The result was a miracle to human sense, but divinely natural. His views about Christian Science began to change, for I began to be a Christian Scientist instead of merely talking about it. He is now beginning to attend the church services. The financial difficulties are also solved; our two children attend Sunday school, and we are a happy little family.

How grateful I am to the practitioner who awoke me to the truth that the first place to work out all problems is the home. This is health, wealth, and true wisdom, and the foundation of world peace. I am also grateful for the many physical healings experienced by our family. Three of the most outstanding among them were my healing of the need of wearing glasses, our daughter's healing of a broken arm, and our son's healing of a growth on his neck. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who opened up the Bible to me and made God seem nearer and dearer.—(Mrs.) Josephine Sproul Mottola, Hammonton, New Jersey.

I am more than glad to verify my wife's testimony. Although I am not a student of Christian Science, my family and I have received many of its benefits.
