Christian Science was presented to me over thirty years ago, and since that time I have received many blessings.

In 1909 I met a young student of Christian Science who saw my great need of healing, and she gave me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and two copies of the Sentinel to read. At this time all we had worked for and saved had slipped away in a business failure. Feeling that the world had used me badly, I was filled with bitterness, fear, and despair, and had no desire to live.

Christ Jesus said to his disciples, "Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find." Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 212), "They had suffered, and seen their error." I turned to the Bible and the Christian Science textbook for spiritual enlightenment, attended church services, went to the Christian Science lectures, subscribed for the literature, and had help from a loving and patient practitioner. My thinking began to change, and my outlook on life became brighter.

As far back as I can remember I was sickly and weak from stomach trouble. I had been under the care of different doctors, and had tried every remedy I heard mentioned. I was better at times, but there was no lasting cure. Through the study and application of Christian Science I have been healed of this condition.

Some years ago, while learning to swim, I got out into deep water. After swimming a while I stopped to rest, and to my surprise I went down in deep water. I became panicky. When I came to the surface my only thought was to scream, but the only sound I could make was a gurgle. As I went down the second time, it was as if a voice said, "You are a Christian Scientist." Then my thought turned to God and His presence for my help. A great light seemed to be all around, and the terrible fear left me. I was thinking, Even though this body floats down this river, I live in consciousness. When I came up again, I saw a young man on a raft ready to dive into the water. I called to him in a clear voice, "Come and help me." He reached me in time to save me from drowning, as I was going down the third time. "The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."

While going on a vacation, my husband and I had another proof of God's protecting care. We were driving our car on the open highway, when all at once something went wrong with the steering gear, and we had no control of the car. As we were going over an embankment, I declared, "There are no accidents." When the car came to a stop, it was hanging by a fence wire. We came out of the experience unharmed. I asked my husband if he thought that the wire kept the car from turning over. He answered, "Nothing but divine Love kept that car from turning over." A few repairs were made at a near-by town, and in less than an hour we were on our way again. I spent much of the time praying and thanking God we were alive.

Some of the healings I am grateful for are those of insomnia, a dislocated elbow, an injured knee, car sickness, and continual colds.

I am grateful for the happiness, harmony, and supply Christian Science brought into my home. I am sincerely grateful for active service in a branch church, and for membership in The Mother Church.
