Sunday School Notes and Comments

On a "Day of Prayer" observed throughout the British dominions, a Sunday school class of older girls decided to discuss the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly from the standpoint of prayer for the cause of right.

First they discussed the nature of true prayer. They decided that God was always blessing; therefore they need not implore Him to help but would take Jesus' method of prayer as their example. They read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 12) that Jesus' "humble prayers were deep and conscientious protests of Truth,—of man's likeness to God and of man's unity with Truth and Love." A brief review of the Lord's Prayer showed how perfectly this prayer meets every human need.

That Sunday the Lesson-Sermon contained beautiful passages from the Psalms, among them, "He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved," and strong, comforting assurances from the forty-sixth Psalm.
