Deep gratitude for the wonderful...
Deep gratitude for the wonderful testimonies others have given impels me to want to add mine.
My first healing, some twentyfive years ago, was of lumbago. I was unable to drive my car to work, and was to travel by sleeper that night to attend a three-day convention in a distant city, where I would be standing on marble floors the greater part of the time. I was quite young in the study of Christian Science, but diligently applied what I knew of the truth. I also telephoned to a practitioner for help. The religious article in The Christian Science Monitor that day, entitled "Man in His Right Place," was an inspiration to me. Needless to say, I was able to carry on my plans with very little inconvenience, and have never had a return of this difficulty since.
I was healed of the tobacco habit when I realized, more fully than ever before, the truth of the words of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health, p. 454), "It need not be added that the use of tobacco or intoxicating drinks is not in harmony with Christian Science."
I have had many proofs of protection in driving, and many business problems have been solved during these years. When properly applied, Christian Science has met my every need.
I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church, and to be able in a small way to be active in this great movement.—Clyde E. Calvin, Youngstown, Ohio.
I am happy to verify my husband's healings, and to express my gratitude to God for the blessings of Christian Science.
My first instantaneous healing, about twenty years ago, was of tonsillitis. Up to that time I used to suffer from this trouble at least once during the winder months, and at one time it developed into diphtheria.
Our daughter entered the Christian Science Sunday School at the age of three years, and has had many healings, including those of measles, whooping cough, quinsy, and athlete's foot. While she was away from home, attending school, she was stricken with ptomaine poisoning. She refused all medical aid and asked for her Bible and Science and Health. Among many other students and teachers who were also stricken, she was the first to leave the infirmary. She never fails to express her gratitude for guidance and protection, and for the wonderful opportunity to be able to attend a Christian Science Sunday School.
We are unspeakably grateful for the many physical healings we have enjoyed in our home, but above all for the spiritual uplift gained through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and of the writings of our revered Leader.—(Mrs.) Hazel K. Calvin.
