Christian Science not only heals...

Christian Science not only heals physical ills, but completely changes one's outlook on life. It has brought me out of poverty and bondage to smoking, drinking, and gambling into freedom from those bad habits, and into prosperity.

Five years ago I had lost everything I thought made life worth living, including my business and my closest friend. I hated the work I was doing, for I thought it beneath me, and was earning only just enough money to keep going.

Then a friend told me about Christian Science. I went to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a town about twelve miles away. I listened to the readings from the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I found the readings included the most convincing statements about God I had ever heard.

I borrowed a copy of the text-book on my way out from the meeting, and started to read it the moment I reached home. I could not put the book down. I went on reading until the small hours of the morning. The next day the smoking habit was completely healed. What had been one of my greatest pleasures had become so distasteful that I could not smoke a single cigarette, and I have not had the slightest desire to do so from that day to this.

Two weeks after that healing, I had a bad attack of influenza. This complaint had previously laid me up in bed for one or two weeks every winter. I was advised to ring up a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner told me to come to the Wednesday evening testimony meeting that night. As I motorcycled the twelve miles in cold wind and rain, I felt very ill indeed, but during the meeting I was completely healed. I walked out of the church entirely well.

From that time on every physical ill which has appeared has been quickly healed, mostly by the work of a faithful practitioner, but sometimes through my own work.

Four teeth were extracted without any pain and without an anesthetic of any sort. Lumbago was healed in a few hours. A severe pain in the back, which several doctors and one herbalist treated, without any lasting effect, was so beautifully healed that I cannot even remember when it went.

Sometimes the way has seemed a little hard and dark, but only because some lesson needed to be learned, and when the demonstration was made, I found myself stronger and freer than I ever was before.

I give this testimony so that all who read it, if they have any doubt as to the truth of Christian Science, may be led to doubt no longer, but to throw away preconceived notions, and humbly read, study, and begin to live the teachings to be found in the Bible and Science and Health.
