Christian Science found me when I was very miserable

Christian Science found me when I was very miserable. I had suffered from rheumatism for over a year, receiving no help from doctors or health resorts.

A friend recommended Christian Science, and my husband said, "Try it." I was a member of an orthodox church, and had always had faith in prayer, but for some time I had realized no comfort or help from praying, and knew my heart was not in accord with my prayers. I was discouraged, so I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and, although I was prejudiced against what I believed Christian Science to be, I told her my tale of woe, and shall never forget her sweet smile and loving, compassionate words, "You took your burden to the Lord, but did not know how to leave it there." I looked at her and exclaimed, "But you know how to leave it there!" These words brought the first ray of light that penetrated my consciousness. After the treatment I asked to come the next day. In two weeks I was taking part in all the home activities, and was very grateful for my spiritual awakening.

In due time I joined The Mother Church and a branch church. When I most needed it I received class instruction, and have realized through the passing years what that blessed experience and its unfoldment have brought into my life in healing the sick and proving through demonstration that "God is our refuge" at all times.

I have had many beautiful healings, including those of eczema and chronic stagnation of the bowels. Hereditary bronchial and lung trouble, to which I had been in bondage for years, seemed slow to yield, but through patient study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and with the help of loving practitioners, these troubles also disappeared. We need no other guide out of the mist of materiality into the haven of Soul, Spirit, and its infinite manifestation.

I wish to express appreciation of all the Christian Science publications, which encircle the world, carrying their message of Life, Truth, and Love.—(Mrs.) Elizabeth Y. Van Sant, Washington, District of Columbia.
