It is with deep and sincere gratitude that I wish to tell...
It is with deep and sincere gratitude that I wish to tell of the healing power of Christian Science. For many years this teaching has been my manistay. It has comforted and supported me through varied experiences.
I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but for something which would stabilize my thought and give me a reason for existing. I received my answer in the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. They have proved invaluable in lifting me out of the darkness of atheism, doubt, and fear into the path of security and the consciousness of true and perfect being.
Now I know that God is, and that He is an ever-present help in trouble. Christian Science has healed me of extreme fear, of the belief of heredity, and of an internal displacement of over twelve years' standing. Also, I was instaneously healed of appendicitis when I realized that "Mind is the natural stimulus of the body" (Science and Health, p. 420).
Through Christian Science I have realized that God is constantly imparting to us all that is needful every moment, proving that Spirit is infinite substance, in which there can be no limitation, discord, or obstructive element. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Unity of Good" (p. 60), "This false sense of substance must yield to His eternal presence, and so dissolve." Every false belief can be dispelled through the consciousness of true and perfect being, which is the reflection of God.
I have had many healings, too numerous to mention. I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, which has given me greater opportunity to serve the Cause of Christian Science. I am deeply grateful to our Leader for giving to mankind the Science of healing, whose bulwarks are impregnable, and whose fortifications are indestructible. My testimony would not be complete without expressing gratitude to The Christian Science Board of Directors for their faithful and untiring work for the Cause of Christian Science.
(Mrs.) Hannah Walsh, Detroit, Michigan.
I wish to verify my wife's testimony, and to express my gratitude for the healing efficacy of Christian Science. Many years ago I was healed of muscular rheumatism through reading the textbook. A few months after this healing, during a spell of cold, frosty weather, all symptoms of the disease seemed to return. I mentioned this to a practitioner, who quoted the following verse from one of our hymns (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 144):
In atmosphere of Love divine,
We live, and move, and breathe;
Though mortal eyes may see it not,
'Tis sense that would deceive.
I realized immediately that mortal sense was trying to deceive me into believing that I lived in matter, whereas I lived and moved and breathed in Spirit; and from that day to this I have been entirely free. Since that time I have had many other healings, one of which was of the tobacco habit.
Paul says, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." I can truthfully say that the study and application of this Science have brought about a wonderful transformation in my life. I am very grateful to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy, for her unselfish labor for the benefit of mankind. I am grateful that I have had, and still have, the opportunity and privilege of serving in this world-wide organization, which will eventually establish the true brotherhood of man.
Joseph William Walsh, Detroit, Michigan.
