The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

South Pasadena, California (First Church).

Lecturer: Miss Florence Middaugh; introduced by Edward P. Cheverton, who said:—

In the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy states (p. vii), "The time for thinkers has come." Men and women are hungering and thirsting "after righteousness," and the thinkers of today are eager to know more about the Science that heals and blesses mankind. The hearts of students of Christian Science are overflowing with gratitude for the peace, harmony, and love that Science has brought into their lives—lives that attest the truth of Mrs. Eddy's promise (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."

Christian Science is a practical religion, which heals the sick, destroys grief and fear, and purifies and elevates human character.

Atlanta, Georgia (Second Church).

Lecturer: Adair Hickman; introduced by Marvin J. Rogers, who said:—

Through my study of the Bible, together with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I have learned that the Christ-teaching heals as effectively today as it did centuries ago.

As a result of the application of this teaching, I have been healed of many discordant conditions, including pyorrhea, catarrh, and a sprained arm. I have also gained a better and more practical understanding of God and His government.
