Having enjoyed for the past thirty years the benefits which an understanding of Christian Science brings, I wish to offer my grateful testimony.

I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but because its religious teachings answered so fully my many questions concerning the Bible. I was only a girl at the time, but I had always longed to understand and love God, and I could not reconcile the Biblical interpretations of my church with the teachings of Jesus. As soon as I began to study Christian Science I knew I had found the truth which I was seeking.

There have been many healings in my experience, both for myself and for members of my family. I have been healed of a severe nervous condition, an abnormal growth, influenza, lumbago, sprained ankle, warts, sick headaches, and colds. Many of these healings have been instantaneous and all have been rapid, with the exception of the overcoming of the nervous condition, which seemed very slow. However, as my understanding grew and wrong traits were destroyed, the healing was finally completed.

I should like to tell of a very beautiful healing which we witnessed a number of years ago. Our daughter, who was about six years old at the time, fell on her face out of a car which was being driven at about forty-five miles an hour. This occurred on a very busy boulevard, but not one of the steady stream of vehicles touched her as she lay in the street. I was not in the car, and there was no Scientist present, so she was taken in an unconscious state to a near-by hospital. It was Sunday, and no X rays could be taken until the next day, but the physician who examined her pronounced a skull fracture, some knee difficulty, and possibly other complications. The child's father decided to bring her home, because he knew that would be what I would wish, and for this I shall always be grateful. He telephoned me, and I immediately got in touch with a practitioner, who began work at once. At first I was overcome by fear, but the practitioner's work dispelled this almost instantaneously. When the child reached home an hour or so later, she was conscious, and all bleeding had stopped. She said her head hurt. I reported her condition to the practitioner by telephone; then I returned to the child, who said, "My head doesn't hurt any more." We had no difficulty whatsoever with her from that time on. She slept all afternoon and evening, had a little nourishment, and spent a peaceful night. In the morning she insisted on getting up and playing. This was on a Monday, and by the following Monday all evidences of the fall were gone, and she was back in school, free. She could have gone back the previous week, but I preferred to have her wait until the physical evidences of the accident had disappeared.

For many beautiful healings, for great peace of mind, for a growing sense of God's power and presence, and for the spiritual understanding which enables us to solve our daily problems, I am truly grateful. I wish also to express gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for the privilege of sharing in the activities of the Christian Science movement, and for class instruction. Only a life consecrated to our great Cause can prove my love and devotion to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us this truth.
