Whence Cometh Peace?

Wars and the talk of wars!
When shall these cease?
When in the hearts of men
There reigneth peace—
Peace born of love that seeks
Never its own;
Love that can know all men
As they are known
To the great source of love,
Sons true and free,
Thus, through Love's fatherhood
Brothers to be!
Then shall greed fall before
Unselfed desire,
Then shall hate be consumed
In divine fire.
Nations shall meet as one
Through Spirit's leaven—
And the whole earth shall know
The peace of heaven.
