I am grateful for this opportunity to express my appreciation of the physical healings which I have experienced through the help of Christian Science practitioners.

My first healing in Christian Science came when I was a young boy. I had an abscessed ear that was so painful I could not sleep. My father had tried home remedies to ease the pain, but they were useless. From playing on and around a plot of ground that was being prepared for a Christian Science church, I learned of the healings which were taking place through the work of Christian Science practitioners. When the pain became very sever, I asked my father to take me to a practitioner, assuring him that one could heal me. While I was returning home from the visit to the practitioner, the pain and evidence of the abscess disappeared.

I cannot recall why I did not go to the Christian Science church until many years later, but during this time I began to wear glasses, and I also acquired the tobacco habit. Finally, I decided to take my stand for Christian Science, and, knowing the requirements of church membership, I again went to a practitioner, to be healed of the tobacco habit. While there, the practitioner said I could also be healed of wearing glasses. With a single treatment, I was instantly healed of the tobacco habit, of wearing glasses, and of three physical ailments. The next day I took an automobile driver's license test. One of the requirements was to read letters of different sizes. I could read every letter easily. One of the three physical conditons of which I was healed would have been considered a surgical case. All these healings have proved permanent.

In the Bible we read, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword;" and Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 365), "If the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine." I have proved the truth of these statements, for all my healings in Christian Science have been instantaneous, except in two cases, one of which took a week and another about five days.

I am deeply grateful for our textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health, which illumines the Scriptures. What a blessing we have in these two books!
