"Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction." This I can declare with the Psalmist from a grateful heart!

I was privileged to find Christian Science in a very wonderful way. I was mentally and physically broken down as the result of a difficult internal trouble. The doctor who was treating me considered an operation within three days indispensable. Otherwise, according to his opinion, life would be over for me. When in desperation I told a kind friend of this, he begged me to postpone the operation until he could introduce me to a woman who, he said, knew a wonderful remedy that would help everyone, and who would surely have some advice for me.

Shortly after that I met the woman, who was a Christian Scientists, and she explained to me what God is and what my relation is to Him. In that first hour in which I learned something of Christian Science I was freed of very great fear. At my request treatment was given me, and after several days the pain ceased, and gradually the external symptoms disappeared. When I had to visit the doctor again some time later, on account of health insurance, he attested to my healing and could not help wondering how it was possible for me to have been healed without an operation. This healing occurred eleven years ago. With all my heart I am grateful for it and especially for the spiritual inspiration which accompanied it.

Words cannot express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has already done for me and mine and is still doing each day. Through it I have been privileged to see that God is not only my sole preserver, but also my only help in every need and my only physician. Though I put Christian Science aside for a time after my first wonderful healing, hard experiences, bringing me the severest mental suffering, drove me to the arms of divine Love. I am inexpressibly grateful for the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Bible, which brought me comfort and peace of mind, day and night. Thus I learned thoroughly that I should rely on God alone, who is the only substance and Life.

I have also been freed through Christian Science of many physical troubles, such as bronchitis and catarrh, sore throat and earaches, nettle rash, chronic headaches, and other ills. Some of these healings occurred with the help of a kind practitioner, and others through my study of the Christian Science textbook.

I am deeply grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having given us this wonderful textbook. I have learned through the study of the Bible and the textbook that sin, sickness, lack, and death are unreal. I am grateful for all the blessed activities of Christian Science, and not least for the fact that I may work as a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church in the vineyard of the Lord.
