"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big...
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." These opening words of the Preface to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. vii) have brought courage and renewed hope to me many times.
The realization of the allness of God takes away doubt, fear, and a false sense of responsibility. One definition of the word "sustain" is "to endure without failing or yielding."
A realization of what "the sustaining infinite" really is came to me at a time when, due to an automobile accident, my left arm, knee, and foot were injured, and I was unable to walk for six weeks. During that time I did not mentally consent to the material evidence, and, although the accident seemed to be a very severe one, there were no serious effects.
One who is "leaning on the sustaining infinite" refuses to limit in any way the power of God, and in my own experience I have proved that "to-day is big with blessings."
I have been a student of Christian Science for twenty-five years. It has been my only physician. Many demonstrations have been made, some with the help of a practitioner, others with my own application of the truth. Some of the physical healings have been of colds, weak lungs, and severe bilious attacks of long standing.
One of the outstanding healings which came to me was when a loved one, who had been very dear and close to me, passed on. The belief of loss was replaced with the knowledge that there is no death and no separation.
I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. I am also thankful for the privilege of serving as Librarian for six years in a Christian Science Reading Room, and for the privilege of attending the annual meeting for Librarians held each year in The Mother Church. My gratitude for class instruction increases with a growing appreciation of its priceless value. Each Association meeting is an opportunity to recall the spiritual riches provided by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has blessed all mankind in her work for humanity.
