"The fact that Truth overcomes both disease and sin...
"The fact that Truth overcomes both disease and sin reassures depressed hope" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 420). Christian Science testimonies, both written and oral, have always helped me, and I feel that I should now like to offer one.
I was not seeking physical health when I first heard of Christian Science, but for some considerable time I had been experiencing much unhappiness and disappointment. It was a joy to find that the whole tenor of the teaching of Christian Science bears out the thought that happiness, health, and harmony need no longer be likened to elusive will-o'-the-wisps, but are to be seen as constituting the real experience of man, divinely bestowed and divinely maintained.
I am grateful to my heavenly Father for all the occurrences which prepared my thought to accept Christian Science easily. From the first afternoon that I started to read the textbook, I accepted the teaching without a single mental reservation.
To have had Christian Science in rearing my children gives me cause for thankfulness. Every physical ailment that appeared was overcome by Truth, and school experiences were made easier for them in the same way. One child fell ill with diphtheria, but was cured very quickly through Christian Science alone, and other members of the household were protected by realizing that although the three Hebrew captives were in the very midst of the flames, not "an hair of their head" was "singed ... nor the smell of fire had passed on them." A severe case of yellow jaundice was also overcome quickly. An internal tumor passed away. We have been protected from untoward happenings on many occasions.
It has been my privilege to witness numerous healings among relatives and friends. A brother had a large, hard growth behind one of his ears, which was removed through only one declaration of the truth. Another relative was healed instantaneously of a blister, which had appeared at the back of her heel from wearing new shoes.
A comprehensive testimony covering all the numerous healings and blessings brought into my experience would require a great deal of space, but I can summarize them all by saying that whatever I have today that is happifying and satisfying, I owe to the understanding of God as revealed in Christian Science.
I greatly revere our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her unselfish service to humanity.
For various opportunities to serve the Cause, for the righteous example and faithfulness to Truth observed in others, for the work of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and for all the activities of The Mother Church, I am deeply grateful.—(Mrs.) Margaret Horn, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
