With a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to our...
With a heart overflowing with love and gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, I offer the following testimony.
In February, 1936, my twelve-year-old daughter came home form school in an extremely nervous condition, which became decidedly worse until it developed into what is called St. Vitus's dance and insanity.
A Christian Science practitioner was called and treatment was lovingly given. For two weeks the aggressive arguments of mortal mind persisted, and it took every grain of my understanding to rise above them, but as always the searchlight of Truth and the power of divine Love pierced the veil and I was able to obey Mrs. Eddy's injunction in Science and Health (p. 454), to "wait patiently for divine Love to move upon the waters of mortal mind, and form the perfect concept."
On the third day of May my daughter was back in her classroom completely healed. She passed all her promotion tests and was promoted into a higher grade in June. She left home upon the last day of June and spent her entire summer vacation at a camp in Maine, playing tennis, riding horseback, and entering into and enjoying the different activities of camp life, at one time riding twenty miles on horseback, caring for her horse, and remaining out of doors overnight.
This child was also healed through Christian Science treatment of what the school doctors called a severe case of diseased tonsils.
For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the blessing of class instruction, I am immeasurably grateful. I feel that this testimony would be incomplete without gratitude expressed for the loving practitioner who worked so faithfully; for all that Christian Science is doing for the whole world; and for the loyalty and steadfastness of The Christian Science Board of Directors.—(Mrs.) Kathryn Lane Smith, Baldwin, Long Island, New York.
I am the daughter mentioned in my mother's testimony, and I am truly grateful for my healing and for the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School.
