Through the study of Christian Science, I have learned...

Through the study of Christian Science, I have learned to trust in the loving care of God. Day in and day out I rejoice in abundant proofs of His love for me, and I consider it a privilege to share even a few of these proofs.

I became interested in Christian Science after I had been attending Sunday school for a number of years. At first I went because my mother watned me to go, but as I grew older and began to make more decisions for myself, I started to lose interest in Sunday school and told my mother that I was no longer going to attend. However, at her request I agreed to attend for a little while longer, and shortly afterwards was shown that Christian Science is a tangible and practical religion which I could use to great advantage in my daily living.

One day I was hit in the eye with a hockey stick which made rather a large cut on the eyelid. In a frightened state of mind I turned to my Sunday school teacher for help, and I received his loving aid as well as a forceful admonition to put into practice the truths that I knew. Not only was I relieved of all pain inside of a few hours, but also, the fear of those around me that the eyeball would be injured, was destroyed. This caused me to start an earnest study of Christian Science. I found that this study enabled me to be a better student in high school and college, and made my home relationships more loving, harmonious, and enjoyable. In short, I proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 329), "A little leaven leavens the whole lump," and found that Christian Science improved every phase of my life.

During a hockey game with a university in another state, my ankle was broken. I walked around for two days before we returned to our university, where I was placed in the Health Service to have a cast put on the foot. Our trainer told me that I would not be able to play hockey again that year, and that I would have to wear the cast for six weeks. But when the bone specialist put the cast on, he volunteered to take it off in three weeks and later reduced the time again, taking the cast off after two weeks and informing me that I could skate again in a few days. Shortly, I returned to practice and played with my team in the last game of the year, just four weeks after the ankle had been broken. We all rejoiced at my being able to play again, and inwardly I thanked God for His healing power.

Christian Science has helped me to solve my financial problems. When I started attending the university I did not know how I should ever find the means to pay my expenses. Today I have finished a college course and "owe no man," but rather have been able to help others in a small way.

I am also grateful to have had the opportunity of serving on the board of the Christian Science organization at my university. In this work many other young students, as well as I myself, have grown in grace and experience in preparation for participating in the affairs of a church. The college organization provides an opportunity for students to advance, and prepare themselves to be faithful church workers, and in this way add strength to the progress of Christian Science.

Truly, Christian Science has done much for me and mine, and I try to show my gratitude by making myself better fitted to join in the battle against error. In this respect I am deeply grateful for class instruction, for it has greatly increased my understanding and ability to demonstrate the truth.
