The coupling of Unity to Christian Science "as a sort of second cousin," fails to square with the facts. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in her book "Rudimental Divine Science," defines Christian Science (p. 1) as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." It is thus readily seen that Christian Science is purely spiritual law; therefore it can have no cousinship with whatever operates, either in part or wholly, on a material basis.

In the fourth chapter of his first epistle, John says, "God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." It is upon the basis of this law of Love that Christian Science overcomes hate, for hate has no place in the Love which is God.
