Announcement

Ralph B. Scholfield, C. S. B., of London, England, who was re-elected to The Christian Science Board of Lectureship on September 13, has been actively engaged in the public practice of Christian Science and in various positions in the movement since 1919. He was born in England and received his early education at Eton College, later taking a course in military training in contemplation of an army career. His family had for years been earnest students of Christian Science, and while at school he was healed through Christian Science of a severe illness, which led to his further investigation and study of this religion. After finishing his eduction, he went into business with the insurance firm, Lloyd's of London.

Mr. Scholfield served his country as Captain during the World War in a British Infantry Regiment in Belgium and France. Since 1919 he has devoted his entire time to Christian Science work.

He was first elected to The Christian Science Board of Lectureship in 1930. His lecture tours included many countries, among them Australia, New Zealand, South and East Africa. In 1935 he was elected by The Christian Science Board of Directors to fill the position of First Reader of The Mother Church, which duty he assumed in June, 1935. In 1937 he was a member of the Normal class in the Board of Education, and became a teacher of Christian Science. After serving the regular three-years term as First Reader in The Mother Church, he returned to London to take up his work as teacher and practitioner of Christian Science.

"Christ My Refuge" in New Illuminated Volume

With deep appreciation of the healing message in the poems by Mrs. Eddy used as hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal, the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy announce the publication in book form on October 20 of the much loved hymn
"Christ My Refuge"
conjoining the Science expressed in the hymn with the richness of illuminative art.

The book is printed in four colors and gold on heavy cameo art stock, beautifully encased in an embossed cover rich in red and gold on a cream cloth. It is jacketed in glassine paper for protection, and enclosed in an attractive linen-finish paper box.

The list price is $2.50 and the Reading Room price, $2.25.

Orders and remittances for the new book should be sent to Hudson C. Burr, Publishers' Agent, One, Norway Street, Boston, Massachusetts, U. S. A.

From the Clerk

Membership in The Mother Church

Applications for admission to membership in The Mother Church may be sent to the Clerk at any time throughout the year. It is desirable that applications should be forwarded in ample time so that they may receive the essential preliminary attention before the date of election. The receipt of an application by the Clerk does not make the applicant a member. Applications are acted upon by the Board of Directors, twice each year, as provided by the Manual of The Mother Church, Article XIII, Section 2.

The receipt of all applications is acknowledged by the Clerk; and on the date set for consideration, notice of acceptance or rejection is sent by the Clerk to those whose applications have been received in time. Should an applicant not receive such notice, he is requested to communicate with the Clerk before forwarding a second application. A member of a branch church, on being admitted to membership in The Mother Church, should notify the clerk of his local branch church of his acceptance.

Application forms may usually be obtained from Reading Rooms and from the clerks of branch organizations, or they may be secured by addressing Ezra W. Palmer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts. Cable address: Church, Boston.
