When I became acquainted with Christian Science, I was in a state of nervous depression, suffering mentally and physically. I was completely unstrung and very much discouraged as the result of a family tragedy, which for months had made me sleepless.

One day a copy of The Herald of Christian Science—French edition—came to me from a friend in Geneva. I scarcely looked at it. Then, later on I took it up and read it through. The reading of the articles and the testimonies in the Herald transformed my thinking, and I decided to attend a Wednesday evening meeting. While listening to the testimonies given there, I became conscious of a great calm, and my doubts disappeared; but I wished to know more about the healing power of which I had heard in the testimonies. The next day I went to see a practitioner and asked her for help. She told me with much gentleness that God could meet my needs, for God is Love and ever present, and that evil is unreal. I left her home full of joy and healed of my despair.

My health has been restored; peace has been reinstated in my home, and harmony reigns in my surroundings. Among other physical difficulties, my sight had been much impaired. I was not able to see with one eye, and was obliged to put on glasses when I went out. On my second visit to the practitioner I came away without the glasses. Since then I have not put them on when going out, and I see with both eyes.

For years I had had heart trouble to such an extent that I could not go out alone. This trouble has completely disappeared and I am healed. One day I got up on a chair to take a box from a shelf. I lost my balance and fell, injuring myself quite seriously. I immediately realized the truth, that evil is unreal, and after a few days I was healed. Frequently I used to have a sore throat and hay fever. After one treatment by the practitioner I was healed, and these troubles have never reappeared.

My husband, who had been badly wounded in the war, was very ill. The doctor warned me to expect the worst. However, for some time now he has been quite well, for God alone is our true Physician. My husband was also healed of a sprained knee. The doctor had forbidden him to get up or walk for a month. Within five days he got up and walked.

I am happy to give this testimony of healings received; and I thank Christian Science and our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder, who has taught us the way of happiness. I am grateful for all the church activities, and I am sincerely grateful to the practitioner who has so kindly helped me to understand the truth.—(Mrs.) Céleste Bonnet, Montigny S.
