The Comforter

O Love divine, that in each hour of sadness,
Comes with deep solace, bringing rest and peace,
And to each heart gives promise sweet of gladness—
Of joys untold, and love that will not cease.

O Love divine, with tender care enfold us;
Help us, we pray, when far away we roam.
If we but ask His loving arms to hold us,
Our Father-Mother God will lead us home.

O Love divine, Thy life and truth are given
To keep us steadfast, strong, when shadows fall.
And when the chains of mortal sense are riven,
We wake—and learn to know that God is All.
