I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity of writing to our periodicals of a beautiful healing that came into our family about seven years ago through Christian Science.
As my husband, my granddaughter, and I were returning from a drive one Sunday afternoon, we were struck by another car. Our car turned completely over, with the result that both my husband and I were knocked unconscious. The child fainted but was not seriously hurt, so was cared for by a kind neighbor. My husband and I were taken to a hospital, where X-ray photographs were taken revealing serious fractures.
A neighbor who knew of our interest in Christian Science called a practitioner, who came at once to the hospital. I was still unconscious, but it was not long before I could hear the practitioner calling to me and I soon regained consciousness. From then on I made rapid progress. My husband's back was injured, the spine was cracked and the small vertebrae were torn loose. The physician said he should be put in a cast and that he would not be around again for a year. We took no material remedies, resorted to no casts, but relied wholly upon Christian Science for our help. We left the hospital the third day and suffered no bad results from so doing, though we were warned that we were taking our lives into our own hands.
Thanks to God for His wonderful healing power and for the practitioner's spiritual understanding we were both completely healed. My husband went to work in less than a month; my skull and eye were entirely healed, and there was no scar of any kind left on my face.
We have had healings of many other difficulties, including scarlet fever in less than two weeks, adenoids and diseased tonsils which the physician said must be removed, measles, headaches, neuritis, severe sore throat, and double pneumonia.
I am truly grateful for all the blessings that have come to me and mine through Christian Science, the truth discovered by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am grateful for the literature, the Reading Rooms, the Christian Science lectures, and the church services; also for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for teaching in the Sunday school, and for the privilege of serving in the activities of the church.
