Supply through Ideas
[Original article in German]
When Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fishes, thus proving that the law of supply is demonstrable, his direct reversal of the meagerness of human thinking pointed to his thorough understanding of divine Principle.
Through Christian Science an opportunity is offered us today to grasp the teachings of Jesus and to put them to practical use. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 2), "God is not moved by the breath of praise to do more than He has already done." Our task consists in gaining a better understanding of ever-present Love, so that we may thereby recognize the gifts of God impartially bestowed on all. What incalculable riches in spiritual ideas are at the disposal of men through the reflection of God! Do we fully realize that every one of these is empowered to accomplish its purpose and work? How useless material riches would be to us if, instead of employing them, we allowed them to deteriorate through lack of use! So, too, we must make constant use of scientific thinking, and thereby gain higher views of spiritual existence.
Jesus said, "I am my Father are one." He felt no separation from God. On the contrary, he accepted his oneness with the Father as a divine warrant. With unsurpassed moral courage and sublime humility, Jesus glorified God as no other one had ever done. Unhindered by human measurements of time and space, he demonstrated the healing Christ, timeless Truth, filling all space. Most compassionate among men, the Saviour recognized the outstretched hand ready to receive and the blinded eye seeking the light of Truth. Far removed from personal condemnation, he discerned man's unity with good.
In like manner, through spiritual enlightenment, our beloved Leader attained conscious communion with God. Through her tireless reaching out for spiritual ideas and their healing power, she gathered a rich harvest in showing men how to rise above the false concepts of error to the true consciousness of creation. "You must utilize the moral might of Mind in order to walk over the waves of error and supportyour claims by demonstration," she writes on page 455 of Science and Health. The endless suffering caused by human belief in the reality of an evil power makes us realize the importance of the above admonition. Could a more blessed task be allotted to us than to "utilize the moral might of Mind"?
The author of this article recalls an occasion on which the divine power had to be quickly grasped and supplied. The power company was about to disconnect her electric meter on account of a bill which was several months overdue. This difficulty had come upon her quite unexpectedly. The man had strict orders; there was no arguing. He had to go to the next floor and would be back in two minutes. In those two minutes, however, the miracle occurred. The realization of the fact that true light is spiritual, not dependent upon human will, and that the real man reflects this light of God, and thus can never be separated from His radiance, came with overwhelming clearness to her consciousness. Completely freed of fear through this perception, she was able to meet the man with the right, assuring words, in accord with the statement in Jeremiah, "Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth." "The moral might of Mind" having been put to use, the man went away without any controversy. On the very same day it was possible to pay the debt, for money far exceeding this need came to her from an unexpected source.
The law of God, good, provides for limitless abundance, and the understanding of the constant operation of this law meets our every need. Man's unity with divine Principle is a firmly established fact; hence there can be no lack, for man is the expression of Truth and Love.
